Are there any laws and resolutions that regulate the relations between the state and GMP-producers?
In 1996 the government ratified the Federal law about the state regulating of genetic engineering.
In 2001 the Resolution about the state registration of GM-organisms was accepted.
In Russian Federation since 2002 the resolution that regulates the system of genetic safety have been working.
The resolution of The Chief Sanitary Doctor of Russian Federation G. Onischenko about the demands to the safety and the use of food was signed in 2004. It was prepared in order to realize the rights of the consumers to have full and correct information about the technologies of food producing, about the quality and the safety of products, made from GMS, in order to harmonize the demands to the marking of GMP with the EEC's ones.
Now when we have some information about the laws that regulate genetic engineering, we know that:
- Genetic engineering is equal to the III or the IV level of risk (it is dangerous for a man as if he works with microorganisms able to transfer infections);
- The information about the safety of genetic engineering is public.
- GM-products should have special certificates to be sold.
- The highest level to mark GM-products is 0,9%.
- In Russian Federation there some official organs which control the observation and the application of all the laws and resolutions about genetic engineering.
