           Are GM-products good or bad?
We didn't want our project to answer this question. We didn't determine the influence of GMP on a human's organism, this investigation needs too much time.

We really wanted our project to tell the people what they eat. Very few comsumers think about the contents of the goods while buying them. We seldom read the information written on the packings, and if read, sometimes we don't understand what we've bought.

A lot of products nowadays are made using GMS. More and more often uwe use the notion "Genetically modified products". But not all of them have got special marks on their packings. And if they are marked, then in very small letters.

The people working in the stores couldn't avswer our questions about GM-products. As the ordinary buyers they don't know anything about these products and can't say if there are any of them in the store.

To have a more competent answer we went to The Consumers' Rights Protection society and Omsk Regional Sanitary Inspection service.
Its representative Margarita Hovrina told us that they conduct tests on GMS containing goods in the stores of our city. They do it once in 2 or 3 years. And if the owners of the stores or the consumers want to test this or that product htey will pay for it themselves. It costs really a lot. That's why they hardly ever do it.
In accordance with the resolution of The Chief Sanitary Doctor of the Russian Federation G. Onischenko (June,1, 2004), all the products containing more than 0,9% of GMS must be marked. But in our region the equipment, necessary for the tests, can only show if the product contains GMS or not. This equipment can't indicate the percentage of GMS in the product. Omsk Regional Sanitary Inspection service asked some donors and Trade-Industrial Society to help it to gain a special equipment to control GMP. At the moment the answer hasn't been received.
All the goods imported to our region are controlled at the Customs. But only the papers are checked and they aren't always correct.

We think that this problem can be solved only by the common norms and rules of marking GMP for all the countries of the world. It's necessary to have the international resolutions to regulate the spreading of GMP very effectively. The Diplomacy can help to keep the Mankind HEALTHY!
